Introduction to Medical Gas and Vacuum Systems

What you’ll learn:

The Medical Gas and Vacuum Maintenance course provides an overview of medical air, oxygen, vacuum, nitrogen, nitrous oxide, compressed air, and control air systems and equipment. Participants will recall the basic distribution and delivery of medical gases and the zones which they serve. Medical gas equipment maintenance and testing are performed by a licensed specialist who is qualified to breach the system. Consequently, this course does not teach repair procedures but rather how to identify code issues related to medical gas and medical vacuum systems, detect deviations from normal operating parameters, and appropriately respond to system alarms. Participants will also learn the process for completing visual inspection and maintenance procedures related to “O” ring replacements on an outlet, alarms checks, quantify (volume) checks, filter changes, leak detection, and label verification. Finally, this course teaches how to respond to emergencies that involve a loss of medical gas.
