Course Description:

Infection Control Fundamentals teaches best practices for preventing contamination and the spread of infectious diseases within a healthcare facility. Contamination can occur during the construction or operation of a healthcare facility. This course reviews various scenarios in which contamination can occur and discusses means and methods to prevent contamination from occurring. This course also reviews the harmful impacts that could result from a healthcare-associated infection.

 

Learning Objectives:

  1. Discuss infection control and prevention within the Environment of Care
  2. Define roles and responsibilities within the Infection Control Team
  3. Describe the timeline within which infection control risks should be identified and addressed throughout construction
  4. Review a typical ICRA form and process
  5. Demonstrate the relationship between infection control and the physical environment
  6. Identify infection control equipment inspection and maintenance requirements
